Careers

What do you want to be when you grow up? This is probably a question you have heard many times, but don’t worry, you don’t have to give an answer right now! You have many years to decide what you want to do when you are older.

However, you probably have some ideas about different jobs. Perhaps you are interested in doing the same thing as your parents, or someone else you admire. Perhaps you have a burning ambition to be the first person on Mars! Anything is possible.

However, if you are unsure, there are two useful questions you can ask now, which might help you decide what you want to do as you grow older.

1/ What are you good at? Everyone has unique talent and abilities. Are you good at writing? Drawing? Sports? Or maths? One day, you could put these skills to good use in your career.

2/ What do you enjoy? Do you like animals? Or learning about the internet? Or reading books? It’s easier to be happy at work if you enjoy what you are doing.

Hopefully, these questions will get you thinking about what kind of career might suit you one day. Remember though, many people have lots of different jobs throughout their lives. It’s never too late to change your mind!
