World marks International Day of Happiness

What makes people happy? Wednesday is the International Day of Happiness! Many people disagree about exactly what makes us feel happy. What do you think?
What’s happening
On Wednesday, it is the International Day of Happiness. This year the theme is “happier together”.
This means that we should celebrate the things we have in common with other people.
Find out more
Researchers have different ideas about what makes people happy.
One idea is that we are happy when we get the things we want. This could be a good job or buying a nice car.
However, others think that happiness is more about what you cannot see. Things like having a loving family and friends.
What do you think makes people happy?
Some say…
Getting the things you want! When you work hard and achieve your goals, you can have a better life. This is the key to happiness.
Others think…
Love and friends! Even if you do not have nice possessions, you will be happy if you have people you love.
